Verse 1

You’re My Guest
In Thought
Once a Day,
And sometimes more,
You knock upon my
Daydream Door.
And I say warmly,
“Come right in,
I’m glad you’re here
With me again!”
Then we sit down
And have a chat,
Recalling this,
Discussing that,
Until some task
That I must do
Forces me away from you….
Reluctantly I say goodbye,
Smiling with a little sigh.
For though my daydreams
bring you near,
I wish that you
Were really here…
But what reality
Can’t change,
My dreams and wishes
Can arrange…
And through my wishing
You’ll be brought,
To me each Day,
A guest in Thought.

Verse 2

We have lost a husband
Father, Father-in-law,
Grandfather (Poppy)
And dear friend to all who knew Lionel.
A Man with a heart of gold,
How much we will miss him can never be told,
He shared our troubles and helped us along,
If we follow his footsteps we will never go wrong,
We will miss you from your usual chair,
Your loving smile and gentle air,
Your vacant place no one can fill,
We will miss you every day of our lives.
Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
Or sat quietly in a chair,
Perhaps you sent a funeral spray,
If so we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words
any friend could say.
Perhaps you were not there at all
Just thought of us on the day,
What ever you did to console our hearts

Verse 3

The Weaver

My life is but a weaving
between my Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colours,
he worketh steadily.
Oft-times he weaveth sorrow,
and I, in foolish pride
forget he sees the upper,
and I the underside.

Not till the loom is silent
and the shuttles cease to fly,
shall God unroll the canvas
and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful,
in the Weaver’s skilful hand,
as the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern he has planned.

He knows, He loves, He cares -
nothing this truth can dim;
He gives the very best to those,
who leave the choice with Him.

Verse 4

The Final Flight

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to knit, to play.
tasks left undone must stay that way.
I’ve found that peace at the end of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy,
a friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
ah, yes, these things too I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savoured much,
Good family, good times, a loved  one’s touch.
My time has come, do not be sad,
I am ready, rejoice, be glad.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
